Johnny's Last Day
“What do you mean you’re not going to pay me?” Johnny screamed at the manager.
“Johnny,” Julie responded in a condescending tone. “You didn’t show up for work on Tuesday and I simply cannot pay you at all.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Johnny questioned with his fists curled trying to contain his anger. “I was here, and I talked with you all day.”
“Johnny, Johnny, Johnny,” Julie repeated. “Stop lying to me, you weren’t here, and I had to call in Kingley to cover for you.”
“Julie,” Johnny said while pulling up his phone. “You see I clocked in at 7:57 am and I have evidence on here.”
“You are lying to me,” Julie said not bothering to look at Johnny’s phone. “Kingley came in at 8 am on Tuesday and the system is showing me he clocked in.
“The system is wrong,” Johnny protested. “Even so, how does one day of missing work cause me to lose my entire paycheck.”
“You’ll have to talk with payroll,” Julie said quickly looking down at her phone.
Defeated Johnny walked away from Julie and decided he had enough working for that company. The energy and anger he wasted on Julie and this stupid company wasn’t worth it and he knew he needed a change.
“You’re useless Julie,” Johnny muttered under his breath. “I can’t believe I spent 3 years of my life working here.”
